ARTIST STATEMENT: Hello travelers and friends. I am an ‘artist,’ and I draw things to amuse myself and potentially others. I do not understand reality, and am not good at drawing it, though I try. I have a bachelor’s degree in painting from Southern Connecticut State University. However, I prefer to work digitally since I have very limited physical space and intense anxiety about making mistakes, to the extent that I often cannot apply paint to a surface at all. I wish I had realized years ago that imaginary space is a more functional realm for manifesting the imaginary.
I think anything that gets a person started in art is valid, but over time it becomes necessary to take constant inspiration from different things to develop interesting art. But as long as I still have the capacity to learn new things, I suppose there is always hope – provided I truly believe in it.
I enjoy creating comic strips, animation, music, and painfully in-depth reports about matters which confound and/or amuse me, but often find emotional connections with other people elusive – a consequence of the autism perhaps.
