Planning for the Millions of Children with Autism coming of Age
Of the many obstacles standing in the way of creating flexible housing options for adults with autism, two are primary: legislation that currently requires one staff member for every two residences, regardless of the need; and absence of viable funding streams to support this level of intense staffing. Madison House Autism Foundation and Purple Cherry Architects, specialists in planning living spaces for those with autism, are hosting a housing roundtable in spring 2013, bringing top minds together to explore new possibilities.
Special Needs Trust Legislation
In2 Financial Services is partnering with MHAF to develop flexible financial planning packages to help families build financial support when their child with autism becomes an adult. In addition to helping pass critical legislative incentives, In2 Financial Services will host workshops for families interested in learning more about packages and programs to create a special needs trust that is realistic and achievable for their circumstances.
