Through Our Eyes: Showcasing Artists with Autism will exhibit works by talented artists with autism from April 1–30, 2014, Priddy Library at the Camille Kendall Academic at the Universities at Shady Grove. It offers a window into the way autistic adults perceive our world and gives all viewers the chance to understand, transcend, and work together to create a more humane and productive future. It is so inspiring that the students at the Universities at Shady have chosen to focus on the issues that adults with autism face as one of their key Civic Engagement topics for the year and are also organizing a panel discussion and related events.
We hope that you can join us for the opening reception from 6:30pm to 9pm on April 3, 2014, which will honor Montgomery County community leaders, Brad and Melanie Colton. Joining us at the reception will be the artists and their families, as well as elected officials, media sponsors, and fellow arts patrons.
This curated exhibition will feature a video with the artists’ stories. We are also excited that Autism Advocate, the most charming Chou Chou Scanlon, is planning to attend, give remarks, and sing a song or two. A participatory art project will be featured! We invite you preview the art by clicking on the Madison House Autism Foundation’s virtual gallery. All proceeds help create a future for adults with autism and empower communities to develop local solutions to our national challenge.

A wonderful turnout. Thank you for allowing us to participate. As JaLynn so beautifully stated, we are all part of a worldwide community.
