Madison House Autism Foundation (MHAF) provides volunteer opportunities for students seeking to gain direct experience pertaining to their specific career aspirations. The tailored experience will lay a strong foundation upon which the upcoming generation of professionals can build a promising career. We particularly hope to inspire interest in working in the nonprofit sector and within the field of autism.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Be a student working toward an undergraduate or graduate degree
- Be engaged in a field of study, have experience, and express interest related to the desired position
- Have experience using word processing software and other office applications
- Be willing and able to work in our Rockville or Dickerson location in Maryland
[NOTE: Remote work may be accommodated due to COVID-19] - Be able to work 12 hours a week for the duration of 10 weeks

Accounting Intern – MHAF
The Finance and Bookkeeping Intern will assist the Madison House Autism Foundation in preparing its annual Financial Audit and 990 filing as well as day-to-day tracking of restricted spending and non-profit management.
Communications and Marketing Intern – MHAF
The Communications & Marketing Intern will assist with digital and social media projects and tasks to promote our programs, various fundraising initiatives, public relations activities, and other operational duties that help the organization achieve its goals.
Communications Intern – AHN
The Autism Housing Network Communications Intern will work directly with the AHN Director and will assist with projects and tasks related to awareness initiatives, public relations activities, and other operational duties that help the AHN achieve its goals. Interest in or experience with autism is preferable.
Job Readiness Program (JRP) Intern – Madison Fields
MANDATORY SCHEDULE: Tuesday/Thursday 9am-3pm
The JRP is a transition program for adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities and learning differences. The program is designed to teach individuals hard skills related to agriculture, while also helping participants to develop essential soft skills (e.g., teamwork, communication, problem solving, etc.) that are applicable to any profession.
The intern will provide assistance to the JRP Coordinator in running daily activities and in completing administrative tasks. Additionally, the intern will work closely with the program participants and staff in order to ensure participants are staying safely engaged in their task completion.
