San Diego State University just received a $3.5 million, 5-year NIH grant to fund research exploring the lifelong cognitive development of adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). This is a crucial area of study as diagnostic criteria for ASD have changed considerably over the years and most current research is focused on areas concerning childhood issues – despite ASD being a lifelong condition. Madison House Autism Foundation commends San Diego State University and NIH for recognizing the significance of this area of study, and we are looking forward to gaining further insights into meeting the needs of this growing population.
