Folk music fans had a rare opportunity to experience legendary folk musicians while supporting Madison House Autism Foundation at a benefit concert sponsored by the World Folk Music Association. Artists included:
Proceeds from the event are helping to fund MHAF projects, including advocacy and housing initiatives, to create flexible, sustainable housing options for adults with autism.
“Artistic and autistic vary by only one letter, “ points out JaLynn Prince, founder and President of Madison House Autism Foundation. “And, like folk musicians who are so gifted at storytelling through music,” she says, “the unique perspectives of adults with autism can give us amazing new insights into the worlds of sound, color, and imagery.”
Madison House is deeply grateful for the generosity of WFMA and its patrons. “WFMA and its audiences are helping to raise awareness and translate that awareness into action for millions of people with autism and the families who love them,” Prince added.
Please be sure to view the featured video [above] to catch a glimpse of Mack Bailey’s heart warming performance of his original song, written specially for this event, entitled “With a Friend Like You”. Mack, a friend of Madison Prince, was inspired to write this piece after discussions with another close friend who is also on the autism spectrum. Madison House would like to credit and thank John Frank for providing all of the videography and photography for this benefit concert. To see more of John’s work, be sure to visit his blog.
